Clinic Referrals

The University of New Mexico Speech and Language Hearing Center provides speech, language, and hearing services to individuals across the lifespan while serving as a clinical training site for graduate students in the Master of Science program in Speech and Hearing Sciences. The clinic operates according to the University of New Mexico academic calendar and is closed during university breaks and other periods when classes are not in session. 

Graduate student clinicians, under the supervision of licensed and certified speech language pathologists, provide evidence-based assessment and treatment services. 

Because the clinic is a student-training facility, a referral does not guarantee an appointment or placement. Acceptance and scheduling are based on factors such as student training needs, required clinical experiences, clinical instructor availability, caseload capacity, and the clinic's ability to appropriately meet an individual's needs. 

Referrals are carefully reviewed to ensure they align with both client needs and educational requirements. If the clinic is unable to provide services, individuals may be referred to other appropriate community resources when available.
