CLASS for ALL NM
Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Speech-Language Services for All Language Learners in New Mexico (CLASS for ALL NM) is a collaborative project between New Mexico State University (NMSU) and the University of New Mexico (UNM) that aims to increase the number of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) delivering quality services to students with communication disorders who are bilingual or non-native speakers of English.
CLASS for ALL NM is designed to provide bilingual graduate students in speech-language pathology with additional expertise in the areas of bilingual assessment and intervention. The courses include bilingual language acquisition (online), bilingual language assessment (online), and a Spanish (or other language) linguistics course. In addition, CLASS for ALL NM students will complete a minimum of 100 hours of the 375 ASHA required clinical clock hours working with clients who are bilingual or speakers of a language other than English.
Interested students must apply to the UNM speech-language pathology graduate program. Applicants should indicate in their letter of intent if they are also interested in applying for the CLASS for ALL NM program. CLASS for ALL NM graduate students will receive tuition, and commit to providing service to children 3-21 years of age with communication disorders upon graduation.
