Undergraduate student Elijia Buenviaje was named a Research Opportunity Scholar in an induction ceremony on November 13.
The Research Opportunity Program (ROP) at the University of New Mexico is a state-funded initiative that was established in 1995 to promote access to graduate education among underrepresented minority undergraduates. Today, ROP mirrors the goal of the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program, allowing the University to further increase the number of undergraduate students entering graduate programs who are first generation college students from disadvantaged backgrounds or who are members of under-represented groups in graduate school (African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Hispanic/Latino or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander).
