Abstract: Theory, research evidence, and practical “how-to” techniques of management of accented speech will be presented. Discussion will include segmental and prosodic targets, and global approaches such as use of clear speech. The relationship among intelligibility, ease of understanding, and accentedness, and their relevance to treatment planning, will be examined.
